Mary Koon is a part-time librarian and a part-time elementary Title teacher. After 33 years--all in Joliet-- as a middle school instructor, taking the position of librarian and Title teacher has been an adventure which was greatly enjoyed. She holds a BA in elementary education from Rocky Mountain College, and a Master’s Degree in library and information science from the University of North Texas. She was named the Patricia Behring Montana Teacher of the Year in 2016 for her work in the National History Day program.
Mary is a true Montana girl; the longest she has ever been out of the state of Montana is four weeks spent in Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia. She has one sister, one niece, a great niece and nephew, and a great, great niece, Adilee. Adilee attends elementary school at the same school that Mary attended!
Mary enjoys spending time with her family, reading and listening to books, exploring new apps on the computer, as well as learning and teaching, She loves to travel, and leads students on a biannual EF Explore America to the Eastern Seaboard.
